Michel Rolland Launches New Spanish Wine Brand Bearing His Name

Internationally renowned enologist Michel Rolland and Spanish wine entrepreneur Javier Galarreta have collaborated to launch a new range of wines, Rolland Galarreta, which will be available in the U.S. in November.

This is the first time Michel Rolland's name has appeared on a wine brand and it represents a five-year collaboration between the French winemaker and the Spanish businessman.  Kysela Père et Fils Ltd. is the U.S. importer. The wines were revealed at a tasting and lunch at Tribeca Grill in New York October 10.  The Rolland Galarreta selection is an exclusive project range of Spanish wines from top three regions:  Rueda, Rioja and Ribera del Duero.

Rolland and Galarreta began their collaboration in 2010 with the goal of making singular wines that retain the character of the region with an appeal to the international palate offering both quality and value. Suggested retail prices for the wines currently available are in the $24–26 range.

"By putting my name on the Rolland Galarreta brand, I hope to capture the essence and passion of Spain, both past, present and future," says Rolland.
