Wine Scholar Guild Announces October 2017 Jura Wine Study Trip
The Wine Scholar Guile (WSG) Wine Study Trips offer intensive, professional-level education and wine tastings during exclusive producer visits under the tutelage of renowned industry experts. Educator Wink Lorch is no exception. The author of the award-winning book Jura Wine, Ms. Lorch is one of the few experts on the enigmatic Jura region. Based between the UK and the French Alps, she has visited the Jura numerous times in the past 15 years, contributing on the subject to many international wine magazines and books.
“In the past few years, the wines of Jura have reached almost mythical status, for several reasons. The Jura wine region is the smallest in France, yet it has by far the greatest diversity of wine styles and, incidentally, producer characters as well. The sheer quality of the ethereal reds, good-value sparklings, terroir Chardonnays and unique oxidative Savagnins and Vins Jaunes make the region a wine student’s Mecca.” -Wink Lorch
Planned visits for this trip combine historic, renowned estates with lesser known gems. Ms. Lorch has personally sought out producers of high-quality wines that are made in such small quantities that they are not often seen in most international markets. This WSG Wine Study Trip offers unparalleled access to important estates and the opportunity to taste unique and rare wines. Geared towards wine professionals and committed students of wine, this trip will provide a thorough understanding of the Jura not possible without experiencing this little-known region and its terroirs first-hand.
The WSG Jura Study Trip is slated for October 15-19 and is limited to just 15 guests. Participants can expect to drink top local wines matched with meals in authentic local restaurants as well as in the fine Michelin restaurant of our 4-star Relais & Chateaux hotel accommodation, extensive tastings of premium wines, vineyard tours and deluxe coach transportation included in the $3695 per person fee (based on double occupancy and excluding airfare).
